For over 150 years, L'Ancienne École has been part of the heritage of Palau-del-Vidre, in the heart of the Pyrénées-Orientales, between Perpignan and the Côte Vermeille. Housed in a former village school built in 1868, our restaurant welcomes you to a place where history, authenticity and gastronomy come together naturally.

Since 2001, Baptiste and Émilie Gaillard have carried on the restaurant's philosophy: offering seasonal French cuisine, entirely homemade, prepared with fresh ingredients carefully selected from local producers.

Awarded the prestigious "Maître Restaurateur" title, L'Ancienne École showcases the richness of the region through a menu inspired by the seasons and local producers.

In the dining room, our team ensures you receive a warm and attentive welcome, in an authentic setting that blends exposed stone walls, a terrace, and a treed patio. Every meal is an invitation to share, relax and enjoy authentic French cuisine in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

  Fine dining full of surprising flavours. You expect to be surprised when reading the menu, and that is the case from starter to dessert.  Verified A wonderful discovery. A very pleasant address, a must-visit. A lovely setting and a very interesting menu taste-wise.  Verified Sublime... since 2001! Top marks for this restaurant: Atmosphere, Ambience and Appetite! The welcome is warm, pleasant and attentive. The ambience: exposed stonework, a quiet and relaxing patio, ideal with friends but also for couples! And finally, the food... nothing to fault, other than a thank you for my taste buds!
