Restaurant L’Ancienne École is located in a former village school built in 1868, in the heart of Palau-del-Vidre. For over a century, this building welcomed generations of pupils before being completely renovated and transformed into a restaurant in 1982.
In 2001, Baptiste and Émilie Gaillard took over the establishment with the desire to preserve the soul of the place while developing a seasonal cuisine made from fresh and predominantly local produce.
For 25 years, they have welcomed their customers into a warm atmosphere where authenticity, friendliness and a passion for gastronomy come together. Today, the story continues to be written every day with the same commitment: introducing people to authentic cuisine in a place steeped in history and deeply rooted in the heritage of Palau-del-Vidre.

Surrounded by his family and friends, Baptiste Gaillard took over the restaurant. Together, they renovated the venue and gave it a fresh lease of life. A few months later, he met Émilie, who joined the adventure. Since then, they have welcomed their customers with the same passion and the desire to bring this history-filled place to life.
Today
For 25 years, Baptiste and Émilie Gaillard, surrounded by a team of enthusiasts, have continued the family adventure by showcasing seasonal cuisine, prepared using fresh, local, and homemade ingredients. Every day, they are dedicated to offering a warm welcome and an authentic experience to their customers.
