The Old School Restaurant
Palau-del-Vidre
Our History
Le Restaurant L’Ancienne École is located in a former village school built in 1868, in the heart of Palau-del-Vidre. For over a century, this building hosted generations of pupils before being completely renovated and transformed into a restaurant in 1982.
In 2001, Baptiste and Émilie Gaillard took over the establishment with the desire to preserve the soul of the place while developing a seasonal cuisine made from fresh and predominantly local produce.
For over 25 years, they have welcomed their clients in a warm atmosphere where authenticity, conviviality, and a passion for gastronomy meet. Even today, the story continues to be written every day with the same goal: to share sincere cuisine in a place steeped in history and deeply rooted in the heritage of Palau-del-Vidre.

A few months later, he met Émilie, who joined the adventure. Since then, they have welcomed their customers with the same passion and a desire to bring this historic place to life.
